-
seniors day - a great way to collect local history while enumerating the values of archives for future generations, and describing the material held by your institution that tells the story of their childhood - seniors can be great donors and volunteers
-
genealogist day - invite local and provincial members of genealogical societies
-
researchers day - open fragile material under controlled surveillance, researchers are the champions of the archival community, often they are from the media or the academic sector
-
education day - organize tours of the archives for students and teachers
-
The above are all easy and inexpensive ways to attract attention to your institution. Organize a follow-up to the event by relating your story to the local paper, contacting the radio with an account of the event, comments from key community people is an added bonus, or getting a televised newscast of the event
