Mr. Fred Farrell

Fred Farrell received a B.A. and a B.Ed. from Saint Francis Xavier University, in Antigonish, NS. While studying for his master's degree in history at the University of New Brunswick in 1974, he found a summer job at the Provincial Archives of New Brunswick (PANB), where he has been working for the last 26 years. Over the years he has taken archives courses through the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration, National Archives of Canada, and the Association of Canadian Archivists. Currently Fred is Manager, Private Sector Records, Photographs, Micrographics. Member of the Association of Canadian Archivists (ACA) since 1979, he has been Chair of the ACA Publications Committee from 1980 to 1982 and of the Council of Archives New Brunswick from 1990 to 1992. He is currently Secretary-Treasurer for the Associates of the Provincial Archives of New Brunswick, member of the New Brunswick Historic Sites Commemoration Board and of the Canadian Archives Foundation Board. He has served as Chair of the Canadian Council of Archives since 2000.
